HOW DO THE STUDENTS GET AROUND?
Do they need a car for transportation?
Not necessarily…many students without vehicles are very successful each summer. Approximately half of all first-year dealers selling in the U.S. and Canada do not have a car and most of the International students who come from a different country to the U.S. for the summer.
Of course, while we recommend having a vehicle for efficiency, it is certainly not necessary. Many top first-year dealers use bicycles or public transportation, while others may ride with a roommate.
The students do work independently during the day. They do not travel with other students in large passenger vans, only to be dropped off to canvas random neighborhoods. Each student is guaranteed their own sales area in which there will not be any other competing Southwestern student dealer. Southwestern is not a "traveling sales crew."
