What is Sales School?

Sales School is the week-long training the students receive prior to running their business selling Southwestern products. Sales School typically runs consecutively from the beginning of May through June.

Students will receive a copy of Southwestern’s Selling 101, our training manual that contains over 150 pages of information on how to be successful during the summer.

During Sales School, students are trained by sales managers and Southwestern’s executive team, all of which have participated in the program before. Topics covered include:

·         Sales presentations

·         Product knowledge

·         Business management

·         Success principles

·         Motivation

·         Ethics

·         Safety

·         Many other topics

For students returning for subsequent years:

·         Leadership & management training

·         Advanced sales

While hard to put a price on training, we estimate its value to be around $2,000. Many companies over the years have had their own sales forces attend the training.

What do they sell?

The flagship products are the Student Handbooks and The Volume Library. Student dealers also have various sets of books for younger children and CD-ROM bundles, as well as a subscription website.
